What Jessica’s gifting this year…

For the brand new Sewist, Thrifter or Upcycler…

The Bernette B33

I have gifted this machine more than 5 times to all of my friends with young kids who are interested in sewing.  This machine is an amazing price point without sacrificing quality.  I know it can be confusing choosing which machine to start with, they all look the same online!  But the internal parts of the machine are so important.  This machine has a metal hook, metal bobbin winder, metal ankle, and more.  Nothing is more frustrating for a first time sewer than thinking that the problem is you, but in reality, it’s the machine not functioning properly because of cheap plastic parts. Have full confidence that the Bernette B33 will be the perfect machine for years to come!

For the Brand New Embroiderer, First Time Mom,

or Aspirational Home Business Owner…

The Brother SE1900 Embroidery Machine

This is a combination sewing AND embroidery machine that is great for someone looking to dive into embroidery with the functionality of sewing also available!  This machine boasts a great hoop size of 5” x 7” which I think is ideal for getting going.  There are smaller sized entry hoops on the market, but people quickly outgrow that size and are looking for an upgraded embroidery field.  I’ve found that people are happier with a 5” x 7” for longer.  In addition, a full color display makes editing your embroidery designs on the machine simple.  It’s also ideal that this machine has a built in sewing machine for this price point.  Making alterations and sewing projects easy to do on this machine as well!

An upgrade for the intermediate sewer in your life…

The Bernette B77 Sewing and Quilting Machine

I have this sewing machine at home, and for this price point, I am blown away all of the functionality it has built in.  First and foremost, this machine has dual feed!  Dual feed is the biggest upgrade for any sewer because it feeds the fabric simultaneously on the top and bottom.  Dual feed greatly reduces any shift in your fabric, so at the end of a long seam, the fabrics are still aligned.  I also love that this machine has the same user interface as it’s big sister the Bernina!  Making it easy for someone with a Bernina to go back and forth between the two machines or teach someone all about how to navigate this screen.
