More about Christina West: Hi, I'm Christina West and the face behind Kindred Quilt Co. I'm a color-obsessed full time quilter and pattern designer living in the DFW area with my husband, son, cat, and dog. To say I'm happy to express myself through this incredible craft in an understatement. I started quilting about 9 years ago while I was pregnant with my son. I had set out to make baby bedding for him, but had no idea how to sew. My grandmother heard about my new hobby and ended up gifting me her vintage Singer 401a. After spending countless hours teaching myself how to quilt through YouTube and tutorials, I made my first quilt, and the rest is history. Since 2014 I've been making all kinds of quilts, from nursery bedding, t-shirt quilts, and custom throws on commission. I started designing my own quilt patterns in 2020 and published my first quilt pattern in 2022. I absolutely love pattern writing! It has brought about a whole new and artistic way to express my creativity. You'll see that I use a lot of color in my quilts and designs. Almost all of my inspiration comes from happy memories from my childhood. I grew up in central Texas and am constantly inspired by the incredible scenery this state has on display - painted sky sunsets, bursting wildflower blooms, and verdant rolling hills. Color brings me so much joy and is a huge piece of why I love quilting. I love designing patterns that are fun, easy, and one-of-a-kind.
