History of the Baby Lock Serger

A Home Sewing Revolution

An employee in a Japanese factory saw his friend hemming trousers by hand and realized he could invent a better easier and more efficient solution. He decided to redesign the industrial overlocker and began developing a smaller more convenient overlock serger – a “baby lock.” It worked and it worked well -- ultimately revolutionizing the way garments are made.

Modern Baby Lock sergers have numerous innovative features making them easy to use for all sorts of projects. RevolutionAir™ Threading for instance lets you thread your loopers and needles each with the touch of a button. And thanks to the Automatic Thread Delivery™ System no tension knobs are needed. A balanced stitch is delivered on any fabric with any type of thread.

Embroidery Test Drives at Stitchhouse

Curious about machine embroidery, or ready to see what a new machine can do? Book a free, private, one-on-one Embroidery Test Drive and try the Baby Lock Venture 2, Array, or Capella with our team right beside you!
With Christmas around the corner, we're making stockings. Bring one from home or we'll supply one! If stockings aren't your thing, we can make a pouch instead. We'll have notions bags ready at the shop, if you have one you love at home you could bring that one in instead! 
During your test drive, we'll walk you through the whole process from start to finish:
  • How to hoop your item
  • Which backing to use and why
  • How to attach the hoop to the machine
  • How to select text and add a monogram or name
Then we'll stitch it out together, and you'll leave with a personalized piece and a real feel for the machine! 
There's no charge and no pressure. It's just time to play, ask questions, and see what embroidery can look like at home. Test drives begin in October and run by appointment at Stitchhouse, 1002 N Central Expy #499, Richardson, TX. Each session lasts about 60 minutes. We will have appointments on Tuesday, Thursday, and every other Saturday.
