Follow me to Houston Quilt Festival
I'm making the Journey from Dallas to Houston Thursday morning to check out all of the latest and greatest things from Houston Quilt Festival. If you are unfamiliar with Quilt Festival, it is the largest convention to come through Houston ever year. Vendors arrive from all around the world bringing with them new fabric, tools, machines, accessories, and more. Essentially it's a sewing and quilting paradise. In addition they have classrooms full of machines for attendees to be able to try out new techniques as well as learn from special guest teachers.

Most importantly, I am going to check out the BERNINA classroom and I have some exciting news about that!

The BERNINA 770 QE PRO - this model is the NEW Pro series from Bernina, if you haven't upgraded to the Pro yet, let me give you a few reasons why.
1 - The Pro series has an entirely upgraded hook system. This is particularly important for quilting and embroidery. The new hook has an upgraded magnetic thread clamp that makes birds nesting, thread tangles and shredding a thing of the past. It still uses the same bobbins as the older models, which is a huge plus in my opinion.
2- The Pro series got a major upgrade when it added the laser! The laser on the Bernina is attached to the needle bar and shows where your machine is going to take a stitch. For this reason, you can get accurate blanket stitches, stitching in the ditch is a breeze, and more. There is no need to guess where you're about to take a stitch, the machine shows you how.
3- Add an embroidery module to the machine and now you can use the machine like a longarm! The machine will read longarm quilting files like BQM and HQF. The same longarm files used by people with large machines work in the embroidery aspect of the machine and can be used to do custom quilting of any size!

NEXT UP! THE BERNINA 570 QE - the ultimate travel machine or entry level quilting machine.
I love this machine for a few reasons! Essential the 570 QE is the baby sister to the 770 QE making this machine a great option for beginner quilters or someone looking for a machine that weighs less than the 7 or 9 series.
This machine uses the jumbo bobbin that holds 70 percent more thread than a standard bobbin, has ample space for quilters to be able to get large projects through, and a dual feed system that is great for garment sewers who love to work with delicate fabrics. This is the machine I would recommend to any of my friends looking to upgrade their machines from the one their mom or grandma handed down to them years ago!
